Amazon.com has announced that any small press or print-on-demand publisher doing business with them would need to print books through their publishing arm: BookSurge. This means that the small presses and POD publishers that do not choose to knuckle under to Amazon's monopolistic demands will have their buy buttons disabled on the Amazon site. Many publishers and authors feel that being listed on Amazon is a sign of credibility. It is because of this position in the marketplace that Amazon feels it can dictate where books are published and what prices they charge.

Erian Press has not yet been contacted by Amazon, but we do not intend to print our book through BookSurge. Since at this time we only have one title listed on Amazon - An Eagle Unchained - it may be some time before Amazon gets around to delivering their ultimatum to us. As of today's date, April 4, 2008, the buy button has not been disabled. However, it is highly probable it will happen in the foreseeable future.

Of course, all of our titles will continue to be available through this website. If you prefer to purchase through a large retail bookstore, we would suggest you use Barnes and Noble rather than Amazon. Barnes and Noble has the same free shipping on orders over $25 as Amazon.

Thank you for your understanding. I hope you will continue to support small presses and POD publishers and not allow Amazon to establish a monopoly.
